Waste and Environmental Services

At William Charles of Rockford, Illinois, we believe in making a positive difference. We launched our landfill business in 1972 and our Waste and Environmental Services business unit has been in the recycling and solid waste hauling business since 1994. Through growth, and acquisitions and mergers, we have grown our trash collection business to include over a dozen companies serving 140,000 residential and over 20,000 commercial and industrial customers in 17 counties in northern Illinois. We also offer solutions for hazardous and environmental waste, remediation services, and even for recyling.

We continually seek new and better ways to protect and preserve the environment. We constructed a gas-to-energy plant at Winnebago Landfill, using methane that was flared off in the past at the landfill as a consistent energy source, and actively explore alternative energies such as geothermal and solar power.
